		<title>Castroville in &quot;Texas Best Places&quot;</title>
		<link>http://www.preservecastroville.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=69</link>
		<description>
Castroville was named one of the
 Texas Best Places  by the

TEXAS SOCIETY OF ARCHITECTS (http://www.texasarchitect.org/)

#5 on the list BEFORE the King William District!

 The historic district of Castroville contains 97
structures, but the town is not a museum: families
are still living in these well-kept 150-year old
cottages. To walk around the narrow streets is to
experience another time and place. Aside from
cars, there are few modern intrusions to alter the
scale of the spaces and relationship of buildings.
Even its proximity to San Antonio, a mere 23 miles
to the east, has not brought destructive development
to alter the historic village atmosphere.
